Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 139) - CBM Defenders... a Double Feature of Punishment

The continuing misadventures of Wookiee balancing grad school and a free podcast continue but don’t lose faith dear listeners. Another week and we prevail. Despite the constraint of the time space continuum, I am lucky to have pals to save my bacon and provide content for the busy weeks. This time, Danny came through and the result is his introduction to the CBM Defenders. Welcome to another edition of the Fuzzballs defending “bad” comic book movies. This time we tackled movies that Danny called dibs on. Also as a bonus, we actually had recently watched one. Danny and I attempt to defend the Dolph Lundgren and Thomas Jane versions of an iconic antihero. That’s right… two movies about The Punisher. Fair warning… we spoil the heck out of these flicks that are often discussed as some of the worst comic book movies EVER.. You may find these films to be less than good but we’re always prepared to shine our bright lanterny light all over them while talking the good, the bad, and the ugly. Here’s the two films we defend:

The Punisher (1989)
The Punisher (2004)

Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 136) - CBM Defenders vs. Schumacher's Batbutts

Holy geeky podcast Batman!

By now fans of the cast know Blue saves my bacon pretty often especially during this semester of grad school. This banked episode is another edition of the CBM Defenders and it is always nice to defend “bad” comic book movies. For this edition, we had to talk some Batman especially after the last Superman episode. This time we try to defend the Schumacher Batman films.

Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 133) - CBM Defenders... Battle of the Supermen

Well… there’s times you think you have plenty of time to record a new episode and then it’s Monday and you’re no closer because of schoolwork. Thankfully, I had an episode saved just in case even if I hadn’t planned on using it so soon. Grad school is a time suck… the end. This banked episode is another edition of the CBM Defenders and it is always nice to defend “bad” comic book movies. For this edition, Blue and I were joined by our friend Justin to defend two Superman movies. It’s sort of our version of a Battle of the Supermen even if it is more like us loving on movies some think are bad. We chatted all about (and also spoil the heck out of) these flicks. You may find these films to be less than good but we’re always prepared to shine our bright lanterny light all over them while talking the good, the bad, and the ugly. Here’s the two films we defend:

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987)
Superman Returns (2006)

Congrats on completing Level 133 of the podcast and a big thanks to Blue (@bluewolfd) and Justin (@jrgray01) for yet another fun episode. This one really felt like a CBM defense. Please drop a comment here or contact me on Twitter and/or Instagram (@wookieeriot). I'd love to hear from you. Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 132) - After 150 shows… Humanity is Effed

Hey hey friends! So after my rambling last episode, I realized this week was technically the 150th recording put out for y’all. In a fortuitous way, I’d already planned on recording with Danny the Deuce and then it got even better when Blue Lightning said he could join and dragged Justin and a Shadow Guest to the podcast studio with him. With our dongs out, we geeked out for almost two hours to commemorate the show, friendship, and the geeky culture we love to be a part of. Lots of discussion and laughter and robot pneumatics. Let me tell ya… 150 listens will give you such a crick in the neck. Hope you enjoy this hilarity as much as we did first hand. Here’s a rough guide of what we covered in this level of the cast:

Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 129) - Hulk-Sized CBM Defenders

Whoof… Grad school already has me floundering for free time and I’m already late with a Monday episode. I really tried to record yesterday but no dice. Thankfully, I had a banked episode of the CBM Defenders just in case. It’s always nice to defend “bad” comic book movies and that’s just what Blue and I do for not one, but two Hulk movies. Blue and I chatted all about (and also spoil the heck out of) the solo movies based on ol’ Jade Jaws. You may find these films to be less than good but we’re always prepared to shine our bright lanterny light all over them while talking the good, the bad, and the ugly. Here’s the two films we defend:

Hulk (2003)
The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Congrats on completing Level 129 of the podcast and a big thanks to Blue (@bluewolfd) for yet another fun episode. Our differing opinions on Hulk movies makes this defense a great one. Hey hey friends and fellow fuzzballs!

Adulting.jpg

Welcome to the latest level of the podcast. School is starting soon so we’re back to weekend drops for episodes. This one started as a solo episode with all the segments but before I knew it, I rambled for an hour and hadn’t even made it to all the TV and comics I’d read over a six day cold from hell. I figured why not break it up and make sure there’s content for the future. Bonus… it means I can talk more TV and comics on the next go round. Here’s what you can find on this installment of life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff:

Fuzzy Thoughts
Batman Damned #1 and the Bat Pole
Avengers shirts and the Chewbacca Galaxy of Adventures action figure

Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 124) - Danny and the Wheel of Karma

Nothing like the week after Christmas. No school, no plans, and plenty of time to record a fun episode of the geeky podcast about life, the universe, and everything with a good friend. This is just Danny and me talking about whatever we thought was worth chatting about. A good holiday time for your earholes. Bonus: my lovely Heather is giggle backround for the episode and even joins for a quick second. Fair warning… after 55:36 it goes full Danny Spoils Everything… if you skip though… make sure to catch Danny’s thoughts at 1:27. Here’s a short list of the ebb and flow of this conversation:

New BTS video for Galaxy’s Edge showing more of the land and attractions
Danny emotionally mad about Avengers spoilers from me
Sean Penn is not Tim Roth in Hulk
Aquaman aka Wet Thor is already a hit
Stargirl series adds Justice Society characters
Ian Ziering cast as Blue Devil in Swamp Thing show
Punisher drops in January 2019
Mission: Impossible - Fallout cinematographer joins Black Widow movie
Avengers game from Crystal Dynamics is not dead plus Ultimate Alliance 3
Jon Favreau’s IG-88 pic on Instagram
TV chef Jamie Oliver to also be a stormtrooper in Episode IX
Rumor about Padmé in Episode IX
VR experience of Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire
Daredevil Season 3
Initial thoughts on Runaways Season 2
The DCW crossover - Elseworlds
Danny’s RIP for Stan Lee

This was fun and honestly… Danny’s eloquent take on Stan Lee at the end made this so worth it. Also meant Heather and I got to enjoy his company and go see a geeky movie afterwards… stay tuned later for my Bumblebee thoughts in a future something. Congrats on completing Level 124 of the podcast and a big thanks to Danny the Deuce for another amazing recording.
