Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 60) - The Disorganized Beverage Honesty Hour

Well hello there internet (and real life) friends. So... apologies for getting this up on a Monday but this past weekend has been crazy. In the middle of a move to a new place and finally found the time to record and edit over the weekend. Also realized since I won't be roomies with Blue any more, I needed to take the opportunity to thank him for giving me a place to crash and get his voice recorded for his 18th episode. Words can't express how thankful I am for his friendship but a hilarious podcast where we ramble abut life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff is a great place to start. This podcast is dedicated to Blue's friend Wayne (RIP good sir) and was a hoot and a half quite possibly because adult beverages were involved. Here's what you can find in this installment:

Wookiee’s rant about a product called MC Squared
Shinichiro Watanabe Blade Runner Blackout 2022 short
Wayne & the Magic Door 4
Deep Roy
Jack L. Chalker
Sean “Cheeks” Galloway
Patty Jenkins finalizes Wonder Woman 2 deal
Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) & Diversity in Comics
New Hellboy images
Shokugeki no Soma & Hunter X Hunter
Otaku vs Weeaboo
Stan Lee & Leo DiCaprio
Remake of Greatest American Hero & Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad
Adam McKay re: his Nightwing movie
Firing of Simpson’s composer Alf Clausen
Red band trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Shape of Water
Robotech movie & Andy Muschietti
Akira & Taika Waititi
Rumor of Green Lanterns in Justice League

That may not seem like a lot to account for almost an hour and a half of talking but we definitely geeked out on a bunch of other related things. You'll just have to listen to enjoy it all. Congrats on completing Level 60 of the podcast. Special thanks to Blue (@bluewolfd) for joining me. Although we aren't roommates any more trust me that he'll pop in to record every now and again. We're too good of friends to avoid it lol. Feel free to drop a comment here or contact me on Twitter and/or Instagram (@wookieeriot). I'd love to hear from you. Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 59) – The (CBM) Defenders #1

In blackest day... some comic book movies seem indefensible. But who is out there to try and make light of even the worst comic book movies. Who defends evens them. Well constant listener, that's where Blue and I decided it was high time someone heroically tried to do just that. This regular episode of life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff marks the inaugural issue of Blue and Wookiee, The (CBM) Defenders. We start our journey with a super-powered defense of Spawn (1997). Basically the good, the bad, and the ugly about the film where we finish with some positivity and why the movie might be worth watching as a geek and/or comic book movie enthusiast. Not an eay feat but a lot of fun to do. Keep an eye out for bonusodes in the future with this concept in mind. Just because we wanted to flesh out the episode some, we also briefly chatted about the death of comic book legend Len Wein, the inspiration for the planet in Avatar, a brief discussion of Luke Skywalker going dark, the awesome Bladerunner 2049 shorts, and then jokes about Daredevil singing with his feet.

Congrats on completing Level 59 of the podcast. Special thanks to Blue (@bluewolfd) for joining me. Feel free to drop a comment here or contact me on Twitter and/or Instagram (@wookieeriot). Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 58) – We All Float

Hey howdy hey friends. Wookiee back with another guest joining me for an episode about life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff. I’m so stoked my oldest kiddo joined me to talk all about the 2017 movie IT. We went to see it and had to get some of our thoughts out to the interweb. Most of the podcast is all about the movie in a general overview sort of way. We tried hard to avoid spoilers but just in case, here’s your warning there might be something given away if you haven’t seen IT. Overall, we stayed on task with only a little digression about other things like politics. Hard to avoid that when you’re talking with a politically woke human being like my oldest little wookiee.

If you ever wondered what I look like watching scary movies… this is your show. This is an honest review of the newest Stephen King adaptation plus some digression into the novel, the miniseries from the 80s, coulrophobia, a-holes in Pennsylvania, other creepy clown movies (Stitches/Dead Clowns/Killer Clowns From Outer Space), actors the Losers would like to play their adult selves, Happy Death Day, an RIP for Tobe Hooper, Poltergeist, circuses, hybrid animals, American Horror Story Cult, and Stephen King tweets. So much fun having a conversation with one of my offspring and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did recording it.

Congrats on completing Level 58 of the podcast. Special thanks to Kay for joining me. Feel free to drop a comment here or contact me on Twitter and/or Instagram (@wookieeriot). I'd love to hear from you. Also subscribe to the feed on iTunes, GooglePlay, Twitcher, PlayerFM or Podcast Addict (or whatever Android app you use) if you're not already doing so. Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 55) - New Wookiee Order

Hey howdy hey friends. The second episode of the new year and while I had planned on catching up on news and schtuff with a solo episode... I ended up recording another guest episode, this time with my buddy Kevin. This round of life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff is all about professional wrestling. Basically Kevin proves his wrestling knowledge while I say “right” “okay” and “yeah” a lot while waxing nostalgic about a younger fuzzball’s wrestling memories. Apologies if this sounds like it was recorded in a wind tunnel. I’ve been having some microphone issues which I couldn’t resolve. Yet another fun conversation between friends and points to the two of us for keeping it semi short. Welcome to Level 55! Here's some of what you can find in this installment:

When wrestling became the WWE, the NYC store, and the ladies of wrestling
Objectified men wrestlers in a soap opera for men
Monday Night Raw
The Rock, John Cena, and Dave Bautista
What it’s like being a wrestling geek
Thoughts on it being fake versus scripted athletic entertainment

Wrestling as a religion

Kevin’s short list comparing 13 wrestlers with comic book characters: John Cena / Brock Lesnar / Mick Foley / Bret Hart / Steve Austin / The Rock / Shawn Michaels / Kane / Vince McMahon / Undertaker / Triple H / Stephanie McMahon / Dave Bautista (there’s also a longer list after this taking it to 27 total)
WWE Comics from Boom! Studios
Pro Wrestling Guerilla
British, Canadian, and Irish wrestlers
A fun fact about wrestling & Abraham Lincoln
Kevin’s sales pitch re: wrestling awesomeness, the network, video games, and his favorite superstars now

Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 54) - Late Night with the Fuzzballs

Well friends... I wondered how to kick off the first real episode of the New Year/Same Old Wookiee and couldn't decide if it was with a classic format or guests. Of course, then I realized I have a jam packed weekend with stuff for the blog I write for (tstoaddicts.com) and I needed to record early and the opportunity presented itself to record with Blue and the Purple Man. Fair warning, this is us after midnight with a need for sleep so it's delirious and hilarious. While it is all sorts of random, it certainly is the usual life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff you've come to expect. Basically unscripted geeky awesomeness between friends. Welcome to Level 54! Here's what you can find in this installment:

Laugh It Up Fuzzball #53 - It has been a year..

Well friends... the title says it all. One year of podcasting and what a year it was. I thought of different ways to kick off the second year of the show and finally decided on just ruminating on some of my favorite episodes from the 59 that popped up however the heck you listen to this madness. So much life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff. A one hundred dollar experiment that somehow traversed the world of geekdom to being a really fun way for me to get my inner geek (and the geeks of some great people) out into the universe for others to enjoy. Welcome to Level 53... the first of a whole new year. New year... same Wookiee.

So... this all starts with me just talking about the show and the last year. Somehow my list of favorites was actually ten and while this is not another Top 10... there's ten solid episodes I recommend for anyone new to the show. As promised, here's the list:

11 - Shaun Talks Geek Movies
15 - Cuidado Piso Mojado, Spoilers & Hot Coffee
21 - Hey Kids, Comics!
22 - A Solar Orbit In Review
25 - We are one with the Force and the Force is with us
32 – It’s like… a geeky horror episode
33 - Disney and the Fuzzy Beast
Bonusode #2 - Wonder Woman NS Review
46 - 4 Tangentleman… Top 5 video games… one good time
52 – One Year Fuzztacular Top 10 with Danny & Blue

I think this is a great bunch of episodes to recommend to anyone finding the podcast or a good grouping if you wanted to go back and re-listen to any of them. I enjoy the heck out of every recording but these shine above the rest of them. No surprise, 8 out of 10 are guest episodes.

The podcast also includes a couple movie reviews with Blue for Ghost in the Shell (2017) and Captain America: Civil War. Blue and I also tossed in one superhero each that we wished we had remembered to put in out Top 10. Apologies to Blue Marvel and Beast for our omissions.

It all ends with a long non-spoiler (or as close as I could get) review for the new Dark Tower movie. Not a rant but let's just say there's a certain parental tone to my thoughts.

Overall though... I said it best at the end while bouncing back and forth on the space-time continuum in this episode. It has been a year and what a year it was. I'm so excited for all the hilarity and geekery that this year will bring. Lots of thoughts form me about the show and some stuff that I'm hoping for as far as content goes. I hope you enjoy it all as much as I do putting it out into the world for auditory consumption. This is a good start to whatever may come my way. Congrats on completing Level 53 of the podcast. Better yet, rate the episode. Laugh It Up Fuzzball Bonusode #4 - Even More with Daniel Squared

Hey howdy hey friends! So hopefully you enjoyed the hell out of Danny, Blue, and I doing our Top 10 superheroes. It's always so much fun when my pals show up to talk geek and as usual, there was more than just two plus hours of content. I figure... hey, it's been a year so let me drop another bonusode for all you listeners. Geeky rambling about life, the universe, and everything is the name of the game and this is right up that alley. It starts off just with a general geeky conversation between Blue and I about geeky things that make us happy… comic books from the world, good stories, table top games, and more. Blue and I talk a little about growing up as a geek (drawing anime & comic books, geek parents, Alex Trebek, robot stuff, Star Wars books/RPG, and more) and then Danny showed up, we recorded the Top Ten Fuzztacular and the whole tone changed. This is almost like bookends for the last episode. It’s a bit of a jarring change (once I say "standby one" it's on like Danny Kong) but we had lots of energy following the previous recording. Basically, we just rambled about all sorts of topics including:

First Look of Zazie Beetz as Domino in Deadpool 2
A brief non-spoiler review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
Excitement over Dark Tower and IT movies
Thoughts on Ron Howard and Han Solo movie (social media, the Kasdan script, Bradford Young still the cinematographer, How to Train Your Dragon's John Powell to compose)
Noah Hawley from Legion and Fargo headlining a Dr. Doom movie
James Cameron says he’s planning trilogy of rebooted Terminator movies
Warwick Davis has a role in Han Solo movie
Oscar campaign for Wonder Woman
Jaume Collet-Serra to direct Jungle Cruise movie with script written by Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home scribes
Ideas for Suicide Squad 2 director since Serra is leaving
THR reports that Sony Pictures is eyeing Jared Leto to star in Dave Wilson’s adaptation of the comic Bloodshot
Random Batman/DC talk
Dave Filoni reveals Ahsoka and Kanan knew each other during the Clone Wars
Thrawn will be a five-issue miniseries

Lots of laughter, geek talk, and Danny ranting when something bothers him which is hilarious to me. So much hilarity as we rambled and enjoyed each other’s company. Congrats on completing this fourth bonusode of the podcast. Another great addition to the summer of guests but I always enjoy spending time with friends talking about the geek stuff we all love. Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 52) – One Year Fuzztacular Top 10 with Danny & Blue

Holy lots of episodes Batman! Wookiee popping by sort of amazed that we actually got to 52 episodes. One solid year of weekly podcasts about life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff. This is another guest episode but not just any... it's the official unification of Team Daniel Squared... Danny and Blue. It was bound to happen that my two close friends and frequent guest stars would join forces. In honor of one year of podcasting we sat down for two hours plus (yes friends... this is a long one I couldn't bear to cut into two parts) and talked about our personal Top 10 for superheroes/antiheroes. Honestly, this may be one of the best episodes yet and was a ton of fuzzy fun. Welcome to Level 52! I'm going to put our lists below but I'd urge you to listen and hear our reasons for each. Not a definitive list and we didn't make one for the combined group but really great focused rambling. I hope you enjoy this as much as we did recording it.

We also had honorable mentions at the end but I'll leave those for anyone brave enough to listen to this long recording. What do you think of our lists? Agree, disagree, or want to substitute heroes? This really was an amazing episode and I'm grateful to Danny for thinking of it almost six months ago. Did you learn of anyone new or remember someone you forgot? So much hilarity as we rambled and enjoyed each other’s company. Congrats on completing Level 52 of the podcast. Another great addition to the summer of guests but I always enjoy spending time with friends talking about the geek stuff we all love. For this installment, I was joined once again by Blue, the Purple Man aka Chris, and Darth John. One of the geeky things I've found lacking on the podcast has been video games and here's where I remedy that situation with friends who know much more than me. Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 45) Part Deux – The FOURce is strong with us!

Hey howdy hey friends! Welcome back to the second part of the Four Tangentleman talking geek about life, the universe, and everything. This time we focus on some Star Wars news we couldn’t fit into the first part plus a nice bonus of Blue, Purple Man, and Darth Jon talking video games and E3. Lots of goodness here in another bombtastic geek convo. Here’s what you can find in this installment:

Bad Lip Reading Yoda ‘Seagulls’
The Last Jedi Vanity Fair issue
Rian Johnson about creative freedom in Star Wars & what it means
Boba Fett thoughts
We salute Laurie Goode aka the Storm trooper who bumped his head
Vanity Fair covers: fave being helmetless Phasma with pike & Leia
Rian Johnson re: writing process of challenging every character

Blue longs for a return for Darth Nihilus
Star Wars Old Republic
Dave Filoni debunks fan rumor re: Ahsoka
Rogue One easter eggs from Rebels
Darth Jon’s far-fetched Snoke theory

And then we just devolve into random fuzzy thoughts about geeky things in the world like a Power Rangers jingle as a text tone, Star Wars novelizations right next to classic literature at Barnes & Noble, character lookalikes in comics, and I am Groot happiness. But don’t worry, we then find focus and talk some news from the E3 convention and just video games in general. Basically it's three well-verses geeks and me proving I know very little about most video game properties. Here's what we covered:

X-Box One X/S
Two Brand New Metroid games & Megaman
Metroid Prime 4
Halo
Beyond Good and Evil 2
Assassin’s Creed
Remastered Shadow of the Colossus
God of War fighting Norse gods
Super Mario talk (Odyssey, New Donk City, Mario Cart 8 Deluxe, and more)

So much hilarity as we rambled and enjoyed each other’s company. Congrats on completing Level 45 of the podcast. Another great addition to the summer of guests but I always enjoy spending time with friends talking about the geek stuff we all love. Special thanks to Blue (@bluewolfd), Purple Man, and Darth Jon for joining me. Better yet, rate the episode. Ratings help others find the madness. Tell your friends, geekery is always better with peers. You can also reach the show by e-mail, laughitupfuzzballpodcast@gmail.com., or by joining on Facebook (www.facebook.com/laughitupfuzzballpodcast). Thank YOU for being a part of this hilarity! I sincerely hope you enjoy the episode as much as I did recording it.
