Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 46) - 4 Tangentleman… Top 5 video games… one good time

Hey howdy hey friends. The summer of guests is apprently a real things as I continue to have my geeky buddies join me to discuss life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff. For this installment, I was joined once again by Blue, the Purple Man aka Chris, and Darth John. One of the geeky things I've found lacking on the podcast has been video games and here's where I remedy that situation with friends who know much more than me. We thought it'd be fun to do a top 5 list of video games. Basically 20 recommendations for folks to check out if they haven't already. These picks go in order of me first based on the Xbox 360 console, Darth John based on gameplay, Blue based on story, and Purple Man based on nostalgia. Without further ado… here’s our Top 5 video game picks. Yes... I had to be special and give a #6 before we started, Fable II (2008, XBox 360). Here's our lists:

#5: Oddworld: Munch’s Odyssey (2001, Xbox 360)
Jet Force Gemini (1999, N64)
Mega Man 7 (1995, SNES)
Spyro: Year of the Dragon (2000, Playstation)

#4: Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude (2004, Xbox 360)
Horizon Zero Dawn (2017, PS4)
Wild Arms (1996, Playstation)
Splatoon (2015, Wii U)

#3: Prey (2006, Xbox 360)
Star Fox 64 (1997, N64)
Final Fantasy VI (1994, SNES)
Pokemon Gold (1999, Game Boy Color)

#2: Halo: Combat Evolved (2001, Xbox 360)
Titanfall II (2016, PS4)
Dark Souls III (2016, PS4)
Bloodborne (2015, PS4)

#1: Knights of the Old Republic (2003, Xbox 360)
Doom (2016, Xbox One)
Xenogears (1998, Playstation)
Wild Arms II (1999, Playstation)

And here’s a few honorable mentions: Spider-Man (2000, Xbox), Altered Beast (1988, Sega Genesis), Sonic the Hedgehog (1991, Sega Genesis), Halo: Reach (2010, Xbox 360), Borderlands (2009), Smash Bros, Metroid 2/Fusion.

Other games briefly mentioned included Tiger Woods PGA Tour, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Kingdom Hearts, Abe’s Odysee, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Portal, Star Wars Battlefront, Injustice 2, and Arkham Origin.

And finally... a shoutout to some picks from the Laugh It Up Fuzzballs Facebook Group: Jak & Daxter 2, Super Smash Bros Melee, Gears of War, Mario Cart 64, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, Rampage World Tour, MK3, Tomb Raider, Bioshock 1 & 2, Injustice 1 & 2, Killer Instinct, Oregon Trail, Dance Dance Revolution, Duck Hunt, Super Mario World, Red Dead Redemption, Goldeneye, Arkham City, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Street Fighter 2, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Star Wars: Force Unleashed, Mario 64, Tetris, Elder Scrolls series, Bully, and Call of Duty.

This was an amazing episode. So much hilarity as we rambled and enjoyed each other’s company. Congrats on completing Level 46 of the podcast. Another great addition to the summer of guests but I always enjoy spending time with friends talking about the geek stuff we all love. Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 45) Part Deux – The FOURce is strong with us!

Hey howdy hey friends! Welcome back to the second part of the Four Tangentleman talking geek about life, the universe, and everything. This time we focus on some Star Wars news we couldn’t fit into the first part plus a nice bonus of Blue, Purple Man, and Darth Jon talking video games and E3. Lots of goodness here in another bombtastic geek convo. Here’s what you can find in this installment:

Bad Lip Reading Yoda ‘Seagulls’
The Last Jedi Vanity Fair issue
Rian Johnson about creative freedom in Star Wars & what it means
Boba Fett thoughts
We salute Laurie Goode aka the Storm trooper who bumped his head
Vanity Fair covers: fave being helmetless Phasma with pike & Leia
Rian Johnson re: writing process of challenging every character
Ewoks and whatever the village of indigenous caretaker creatures in Last Jedi means
Pablo Hidalgo Last Jedi trailer clarification at Comic Con Chile 2017
Kelly Marie Tran’s character Rose with Finn at Canto Bight

Blue longs for a return for Darth Nihilus
Star Wars Old Republic
Dave Filoni debunks fan rumor re: Ahsoka
Rogue One easter eggs from Rebels
Darth Jon’s far-fetched Snoke theory

And then we just devolve into random fuzzy thoughts about geeky things in the world like a Power Rangers jingle as a text tone, Star Wars novelizations right next to classic literature at Barnes & Noble, character lookalikes in comics, and I am Groot happiness. But don’t worry, we then find focus and talk some news from the E3 convention and just video games in general. Basically it's three well-verses geeks and me proving I know very little about most video game properties. Here's what we covered:

X-Box One X/S
Two Brand New Metroid games & Megaman
Metroid Prime 4
Halo
Beyond Good and Evil 2
Assassin’s Creed
Remastered Shadow of the Colossus
God of War fighting Norse gods
Super Mario talk (Odyssey, New Donk City, Mario Cart 8 Deluxe, and more)
Pokemon game for Switch (Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon)

So much hilarity as we rambled and enjoyed each other’s company. Congrats on completing the second part of Level 45 of the podcast. Another great addition to the summer of guests but I always enjoy spending time with friends talking about the geek stuff we all love. Special thanks to Blue (@bluewolfd), Purple Man, and Darth Jon for joining me. Feel free to drop a comment here or contact me on Twitter and/or Instagram (@wookieeriot). I'd love to hear from you. Laugh It Up Fuzzball Bonusode #3 - Hey fuzzies, comical booklets!

Hey hey friends! Happy Wednesday again with another bonusode. Some extra free time this summer has led to even more than just a ton of guest episodes, I've also had more time to catch up on all the funny books I love to read. I've had a few reviews saved for a while but haven't had room in the last few episodes so I said to my self... self, why not do an occasional bonusode to catch up? Well... that's a genius idea and here we are with bonus content. This first installment, in what could be a more frequent offering provided there's time, includes 30 comics. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did recording it. Here's what you can find in this solo edition of In the Stacks which I sort of think of as the comical booklet bonusodes (until I think of a better name):

X-Men: Blue Issues 1 to 4
X-Men Gold Issues 1 to 5
Secret Empire Issue 2
Steve Rogers Captain America Issue 17
Secret Empire Issue 3
Secret Empire: Brave New World Issue 1
Secret Empire: Uprising Issue 1
Occupy Avengers Issues 4 to 7
Wonder Woman Rebirth Issues 16 to 23 plus Annual #1
The Flash Rebirth Issues 16 to 20
Batman Rebirth Issues 16 to 20
Star Wars Issue 31
Doctor Aphra Issue 7
Darth Vader Issue 1

I'm stoked to finally get some comic reviews recorded and there's more where this came from. I've already read at least 7 more issues and a collected volume. Feel free to drop a comment here or contact me on Twitter and/or Instagram (@wookieeriot). I'd love to hear from you. Also subscribe to the feed on iTunes, GooglePlay, Twitcher, PlayerFM or Podcast Addict (or whatever Android app you use) if you're not already doing so. Better yet, rate the episode. Laugh It Up Fuzzballs (Ep. 44) – Return of the Danny

Hey hey friends. It seems to be the Summer of Guest episodes which is no surprise since I have more time during this time of the year. I had so much fun with a directionless episode with Blue and Justin that I decided to do it again this time with Danny. Bonus, it’s another trio since his friend Joe joined in although I fear Danny and I really didn’t let him talk. Powerful personalities breed powerful conversations about life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff. This is another fun geeky conversation and includes:

X-Men (including a brief X-Men: Blue discussion and Secret Empire)
Marvel’s Annihilation: Conquest
20th anniversary of Death of Superman
Danny reviews Thor: God of Thunder Issues 1 to 24 by Jason Aaron
Thoughts on younglings discovering comics today with diverse superheroes
Civil War II comic
The Han Solo movie
Tala Ashe cast for Legends of Tomorrow as Muslim American hero
Thoughts on the newest seasons/finales of Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Flash, Arrow, and Agents of Shield (and bonus Gotham bashing)
Spoiler thoughts on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Wizard fan casting for Lobo in Supergirl
501st Legion visits sick kids in hospital for 40th Anniversary of Star Wars
Some thoughts about the longevity of superhero movies (Wonder Woman, Zack Snyder’s 300 filter, Joss Whedon, Nolan’s Batman movies, and more)
And Danny’s tease of wanting to talk about the upcoming apocalypse right before we end.

Life is good but it is even better when you can have good conversations like this and enjoy the company of like-minded geeks. Congrats on completing Level 44 of the podcast. I'm sure the Summer of Guests will probably continue well past this one. Special thanks to Danny and Joe for joining me. 43) – Three Geeks and a Podcast

Hey howdy hey friends! Welcome to Episode 43 of the podcast. I was lucky to have not one BUT two of my pals join me for a rudderless journey through life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff. You know Blue (@bluewolfd) from previous recordings but my buddy and talented artist Justin (@jrgray01) joined in this time. Three times the geekery here friends! Good things come in threes, right? SNIKT! Fair warning… this is three geeky friends talking without a script of any sort after midnight. There are tons of delightful digressions while we navigate through all sorts of things. I put the digression topics in parenthesis just for fun and in the hope you’ll be interested in how they connect to the main topic. The long and short is this moment in time was a lot of fun and I hope that joy translates when you listen to it. Here’s what you can find in this installment:

Justice League Dark movie review (James Earl Jones/The Matrix movies/Finding Nemo/simulations)
Fame vs making people happy
Dr. Strange MCU movie (Logan/singing swans/pod racing/magic)
Guardians of the Galaxy
Ang Lee’s HULK (other Hulks, Thor: Ragnarok, Guardians of the Galaxy again)
Alita: Battle Angel & 2017 Ghost in the Shell (also the A.I. movie, Alien: Covenant, Kong: Skull Island, Pacific Rim, Mama 2, and the Hellboy Reboot)
“Oscar winning” Suicide Squad (Star Trek Beyond, Swamp Thing)
Comic – Seven to Eternity

We end by briefly tackling some of the big geek debates:
Freddy or Jason
Is pluto a planet?
Juggernaut vs The Blob
Would sex with Superman kill Lois?
Who’s the best Doctor?
Joel or Mike?
Do Balrogs have wings?
Star Trek or Star Wars

So much hilarity and even more topics I didn't map out as we rambled and enjoyed each other’s company. Congrats on completing Level 43 of the podcast. This one honestly was one of my favorites so far. It’s always great to spend time with friends talking about the geek stuff you love. Special thanks to Blue and Justin for joining me.
